A review posted to leading review site TripAdvisor in September acclaims the Sasteria public observatory - located in the mountains at Agios Stefanos, 6km (4 miles) from Makrigialos - as a "...first class attraction". The star-gazing facility is currently ranked third in the TripAdvisor list of most popular attractions in Crete. Sasteria was also featured in the easyJet inflight magazine earlier in the year.
